What do I need to do in order to get a court date?

This is the current advice, lawyers are in contact with court admin and if anything changes we will update you here.

Adults:

  • I am an adult, I have a citation that lists my arrest as taking place in Hennepin county and my address is listed correctly on my citation. I need to: You do not need to call, your court date should be mailed to you. You can call the court at 612-348-2040 to see if they will give you information faster, however they might just tell you to wait to receive your court date in the mail. You should also be able to request text updates regarding your court date when you call. 
  • I am an adult, I have a citation that lists my arrest as taking place in Hennepin county but my address is incorrect on my citation. I need to: Call the court at 612-348-2040 and update your address over the phone. You should also be able to request text updates regarding your court date when you call.
  • I am an adult, I have a citation that lists my arrest as taking place in Ramsey county but my address is listed correctly on my citation. I need to: Indicate that your citation says Ramsey on this survey: https://forms.gle/dYvKDKvUbD4vaeDP7 We are compiling a list to see if we can get the Ramsey cases dropped due to the jurisdictional issue. You do not need to call the court, your court date should be mailed to you. You can call the court at 651-266-1999 to see if they will give you information faster, however they might just tell you to wait to receive your court date in the mail. 
  • I am an adult, I have a citation that lists my arrest as taking place in Ramsey county, and my citation lists my address incorrectly. I need to: Call the court at 651-266-1999 and update your address over the phone.  Indicate that your citation says Ramsey on this survey: https://forms.gle/dYvKDKvUbD4vaeDP7 We are compiling a list to see if we can get the Ramsey cases dropped due to the jurisdictional issue.
  • I am an adult, I was told I would receive my citation in the mail, I gave the police my correct address but I have not received my citation yet. I need to: You can call the court at 612-348-2040 and confirm they have your correct address.
  • I am an adult, I was told I would receive my citation in the mail, I am unsure if they have my correct address and I have not received a citation yet. I need to: You can call the court at 612-348-2040 and confirm they have your correct address.

Minors:

  • I am a minor, I have a citation that lists my arrest as taking place in Hennepin county and my address is listed correctly on my citation. I need to: You don’t need to call. Your court date should be mailed to you. You can call the court at 612-348-3174 to see if they will give you information faster, but they might tell you to wait to receive your court date in the mail.
  • I am a minor, I have a citation that accurately lists my arrest as taking place in Hennepin county but my address is incorrect on my citation. I need to: Currently there does not appear to be an option for the minors to update their address over the phone. The current advice is to call 612-348-3174 weekly to check. It might take 6-8 weeks for them to process citations for minors.
  • I am a minor, I was told I would receive my citation in the mail, I gave the police my correct address but I have not received my citation yet. I should: You can call the court at 612-348-3174 to confirm they have your information.
